Here I am setting my goals for the first quarter Finish-A-Long. I did this last year and actually finished 6 of the 8 items that were on my list. I would call that a SUCCESS!
It’s a great example of how making your goals SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, & trackable) makes them more easily reached. When you write your goals down, and if you can attach a picture to it, it’s more likely that you’ll actually meet that goal.
So, to keep me focused, here goes…
Finish improv quilt. About 1/3 – 1/2 done with piecing top.
This quilt top needs a back, to be quilted, and then bound:

Mexican Stars quilt top
Finish binding this quilt

This table runner needs a back, to be quilted, and then bound:
These blocks need to be joined into a quilt top, then backed, sandwiched, quilted and bound.
Finish quilting and then bind these Fall placemats
Finish Hoopsisters Mystery 201? quilt. About 12 blocks done. Need to finish all blocks, then put together, and bind.
I have 80+ of these blocks that need to be turned into a quilt.
And my oldest UFO… finish hand quilting this King size monster. And the fact this it is ‘hand quilted’ is why it isn’t finished. LOL
Wow! This list is a bit overwhelming. These are not all my UFO’s, but they are the ones I could easily put my hands on. And it’s ok if I don’t finish them all. But at least they are now on my radar. They are written down, and now I am more likely to finish them.
Of course there are other items on my list. I have several bee blocks to do. I’m still working on Splendid Sampler blocks. I am working on designing several block and quilts. And I’m studying for my real estate license and it’s tax season. So, no I’m definitely not going to get all this done. But if I can mark at least 2 items off, I’ll feel good about it.
By the way, the reason I’m aiming for 2 finishes instead of 1 is because I have one that is almost done. I just need to finish the binding and that shouldn’t take more than an hour or so. So hopefully I can finish another in addition to that one. Is that cheating? Definitely not! And maybe I’ll surprise myself and finish more.
So what are your goals? Write them down. Make them SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, & trackable) and let’s see how much you can achieve!

Oh my goodness, that Mexican Stars quilt is STUNNING!
Best of luck with your list 🙂
Oh I love the look of all your projects and will look to see your progress with interest.
Lovely projects! The Mexican Stars quilt is stunning, could you tell me where I can find the pattern please? Thank you for participating in the FAL, on behalf of the 2017 global FAL hosts.
Hi Lucy. I love the Mexican Stars quilt. It is a pattern by Annette Ornelas. Her designs can be found at southwindquilts.com. Thanks for visiting.
Looks like you have a nice long list. You will get them all completed,
Ha! One day I might have them all completed. Just probably not before the end of March. I have work and a garden to plan, along with the other things mentioned. But I will try my best. Thanks for believing in me! 😀
Oh you will do it, One or two a month. You can even throw in some new projects also.
I admire you for having so many projects almost finished! I really like the one with the curvy blue stars with orange centers, and the scrappy one with houses, trees, people and pets!
My only quilty goals this year are FMQing my acorn trail disappearing nine patch and finishing my Splendid Sampler (sashing, handquilting and binding). I pieced the Acorn Trail quilt in 2015. It was the first time I made a quilt with one line of fabric, and the first time using the rotary cutter. Before that I marked each piece with marker and cut it with shears! It didn’t take long to warm up to the rotary cutter, I can tell you! I don’t know how I would even be able to make the Splendid Sampler without it. Good luck with your finishes!
